Small caps

Interesting video on the Trustnet channel by Giles Hargreave, who talks about small caps. Over the last 12 years, there has been net capital disinvestment by institutions in small caps in 11 of them, and in all of them by retail investors.

He said that even if you had invested in his small cap fund at the peak in April 2007 at 525p, today it would be worth 548p. Compare that the the All-Share and Footsie, which is down 7.6% over a comparable period.

He says he prefers the high growth companies. An example is Andor Tech, which makes digital cameras, principally for labs. He still thinks they look cheap. He also occasionally buys value.
