The FTSE250 has risen 85.7% over the last decade. Over the same period, the FTSE100 has risen 7.8%. I don’t know the total return.
You may think that we may be due for some sort of relative reversal in performance, but I don’t think that is the case.
According to my calculations, the median PE of of FTSE100 is 17.4, whilst that for the FTSE250 is 16.8. This agrees well with the mean trailing figures supplied by Stockopedia of 18.3 and 16.4 respectively. I used an entirely different data source than Stockopedia.
The earnings yield is around 6%, which is probably acceptable considering the kind of growth environment (or lack thereof) that we are in.
